A Third of Americans are Sleep Deprived

Allison saw a report on NBC Nightly News last week and hoped the Center for Disease Control’s recent findings about sleep deprivation in America might convince more people to make healthy sleep hygiene a priority.

I believe making sleep a priority is one of the most important things leaders can do. It’s just too hard to be an effective communicator, navigate conflict, be creative, think strategically, solve problems, manage change, make decisions, be a great boss, and make wise choices about life balance if you’re tired. That’s why I was pleased to see this issue covered at the end of an NBC Nightly News episode on 18 February 2016. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that A Third of Americans Aren't Getting Enough Sleep.
That’s more than 100 million Americans who are putting themselves “at risk of obesity, heart disease and other issues.” The research in this article may help convince you the Nation has a problem, but it’s the recommendation to improve “healthy sleep habits” that I was most glad to find highlighted in the CDC findings.
